Music & Arts Camp AT WILDE LAKE

This well-established music camp, now a Maryland tradition, is sponsored by The Suzuki Music School of Maryland, Inc. Based on previous success, we will again include the concept of Interactive Levels where accomplished students (pre-qualified music interns) assist beginning campers for part of the day. We believe this challenges, expands and focuses the skills of the accomplished students to share their knowledge and expertise with students just beginning their music educational experiences, and is a fun and motivating opportunity for all. The daily schedule includes individual coaching, group practice, participation in various ensembles, classes in Music Appreciation (including videos), Music Theory, and Arts and Crafts.

Music and Arts Camp at Wilde Lake is open to students from first grade through High School. It is designed as a full-day, music intensive camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and is located at the facilities of The Suzuki Music School of Maryland, Inc. in Columbia, Maryland. Lunch and drink is to be brought by the camper (no microwave dishes, please). Campers also bring their own instruments, except of course piano. Ensemble music and art materials will be supplied. Also provided are a morning and afternoon snack.

Programs and Goals

While there is a daily schedule provided, student levels, skills and interests will be taken into considerations, and offer a spring board approach to a flexible, enriching, challenging motivating, and fun-filled week of music immersion activities for the musically inclined. As always, the last day of camp culminates in the excitement of an All Campers Concert and Art Exhibition on Friday afternoon to which parents, sibling, relatives, and friends are invited to attend.

Summer Camp Instructors

Music and Arts Camp and Piano Camp instructors are professional performing musicians, highly trained as educators (many have a Master’s Degree, some have a Doctorate) and professional artists who enjoy, and are experienced in, teaching music and art to children of all ages and adults. They are assisted by accomplished music students who are also talented in music and love working with all ages.

Piano Camp AT WILDE LAKE

Piano Camp at Wilde Lake is apart of the newer Summer Program offered by The Suzuki Music School of Maryland, Inc., and arose out of numerous requests for a week of piano intensive activities for beginning through advanced students. It is a full day, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Camp which is open to Suzuki and traditionally trained students from first grade through high school. Student campers will bring their own piano books, out of which they have been working. Piano Ensemble materials and other special enrichment materials will be provided Piano campers will also bring their lunch and drink (no microwave dishes, please). The camp will provide a morning and afternoon snack as well as art materials. There may be some shared activities with our well established Music and Arts Camp at Wilde Lake students to expand overall musicianship, theory, and ensemble skills.

Programs and Goals

While there is a daily schedule which includes individual coaching, classes, piano repertoire, techniques, theory, sight reading and ear training, piano ensemble, and art, student levels, skills, and interests will be taken into consideration, and offer a spring board approach to a flexible, enriching, challenging, motivating, and fun filled week of piano intensive and music related activities.
